Isn’t that the age old dilemma we Easter Bunnies face from year to year?
HMMM!
Welcome back to OUR GRAND LIVES
and this brand new edition of our WEEKLY SNAPSHOTS!
We survived a few April Fools’ Day jokes of our own this week
including a mid week snow shower!
Yet, we continue to be hopeful that spring will soon arrive to our world!
In fact, yesterday, Laurie’s sweet Little D took it upon herself
to stamp out the last traces of snow so spring can arrive sooner than later!

Thanks to Little D, we are ready to welcome spring!
to share a look into what’s kept us busy this past week.
We're Including some favorite moments - past and present - from OGL, as well!

Those who have followed us for a while may recall that our motto is and continues to be

These WEEKLY SNAPSHOTS give us the chance to reflect
on the memories - the GRAND ones among them - that shape our days!
Keep on reading to discover more!

Laurie is a bit exhausted after the week she’s had…
She’s been juggling a lot as you will soon find out!!
What a Wonderful Week!
This past week, I took care of my granddaughters, Little D and Little P as their day care was on vacation. My Littles - three and one-year-olds, kept me hopping with our many adventures! We read a lot of books, we met up with cousins that were enjoying their own Spring Break, we did projects and we went to the library!

Always a favorite!
We even convinced BaBa to join us on a walk in the neighborhood
during his lunch break!
YES!

There was lots and lots of playing that took place
AND
lots and lots of messes that ensued!
I slept really well every night…
And, once the dust clears,
I may be cleaning my house for a month! or more
What a wonderful week!

The End is In Sight!
Speaking of dust…
Our kitchen/living room update is almost complete!
Now that’s a FAVE!
The carpet was put in this week
and I made sure that before that happened,
Little D signed her name
(and her sister’s, Mom’s and Dad’s names, as well)
on the bare living room floor!

What a fun little secret we get to keep!

Meanwhile, Laura spent time preparing for a special gathering later this month
and also found herself a bit nostalgic and extra grateful one day!
Another Shower to Plan!
I just finished gathering and organizing the party supplies
from the last bridal shower I hosted
and this past week I got the invites to Shower #2
- OOPS -
rather our Bridal Brunch, in the mail!
Just like last time, I had such fun creating the graphics for this party.
It’s one of my favorite new hobbies and I love my Canva membership!
(I decided that it's my little gift to myself each month!)

I’m equally excited for this second celebration which will take place a month after the first! (Our two brides - both nieces - will then get married soon after, within weeks of each other!) Our second bride also asked that less emphasis be placed on gift giving at her party so I needed to put my thinking hat on once again!
We decided that our theme would be an “Around the Year” Bridal Brunch! Our guests have been assigned a different season or holiday throughout the year.and the intent is that our newlyweds will receive and then be able to use these small gifts throughout the year as they celebrate their “firsts” together!
The Bridal Brunch is still several weeks away but is already a FAVE!
I’ll be sure to let you know how it all comes together!
(And if you have any ideas for me, please share!!!)

A Trip Down Memory Lane!
On Tuesday, I met one of my oldest and dearest for breakfast!
She chose an oh-so-cute neighborhood place near her home.

I couldn’t have been happier!
This place quickly became a FAVE!
You know those friendships that just percolate and brew and get richer and deeper
with each passing year… Well, this is such a friendship for me!

We’ve been there for each other since we first met in the halls of Junior High
so many years ago.
Oh the giggles and the angst and everything in between from then to now...
More memories than I can recall!

Thankfully she has the best memory, so I always count on her and it to fill in my blanks!
WHAT A GIFT FRIENDSHIP IS!
And now she’s just began her own journey as a GRAND,
with her first Little due later this year.
More memories to come!
After our chatty and lengthy breakfast, we said our goodbyes.
Then I decided to continue my reminiscing on my own!
My friend lives in a community that’s quite close to
the first house I lived in as a child with my family!
It took me a bit but I eventually found the house.
It may be small but boy did we pack a lot of love into it!!

Memories came flooding back of the five years we spent there before moving on. I remember skinning my lip big time on a wild tricycle ride down that driveway. I also remember a huge snowstorm when my dad was out of town so my brother and I "helped" our mom shovel the snow that was over our heads and seemingly over hers! And, of course, I remember surprising my dad with the "best" surprise one hot summer day as he built a patio behind our house, brick by brick. As a five-year-old I had invited all my neighborhood friends and their pet cats over to our house for an impromptu birthday party for our family cat! Imagine my dad’s surprise when I announced that we’d be serving ice cream to everyone, especially the cats so they could lick their plates! (I’m not sure where my mom and brother were… Details! Details!) I do remember that, despite the heat, my dad just smiled through it all! Oh, how I wish I could revisit that day with one more hug and one more “thank you” meant just for him!
Tuesday with it's memories was a GRAND day!

Easter Egg Decor!

With Easter only a few weeks away,
we decided that TODAY was the perfect time to revisit our
FAVORITE EGG DECORATING TECHNIQUES with you all!
We’ve each chosen one to share in this post!
LAURIE’S PICK - BUBBLE WRAP EGGS!
You know those extra piees of bubble wrap you put aside for "some day". Well here it is! Set up a station, as shown below, and let your Little paint a piece of bubble wrap, using one color to begin with! Then roll a hard boiled egg on the bubble wrap! Once your Little has mastered this process, try adding 2 or 3 colors on the bubble wrap!

LAURA’S PICK - COOL WHIP EGGS!
Before you begin, soak the hardboiled eggs in vinegar for at least 20 minutes. This step will make the colors more vibrant!
Fill a tray or glass 9 x 13 pan with a carton of whipped topping and spread out. Add drops of food coloring. Then repeat with one or more additional colors!. Use a toothpick or skewer to swirl the food coloring, creating a marble effect!
Roll each egg in the mixture until it’s completely covered. Repeat this process with the other eggs. Let the eggs sit in the whipped topping for about 30 minutes.

After 30 minutes, rinse the eggs in a bowl of water and then finish up by rinsing once again under running water.

Your Little (and YOU) will love your beautifully marbled eggs!.

We have some snow showers in the forecast this week but I'm really hoping we don't have any more snow accumulation. That is another really fun shower idea!

Oh no! That is rubbish that the snow is still hanging around.
Little D and Little P are just adorable! It sounds like you have all had a great time together.
How lovely to have a catch up with your friend.
