YEP! Easter is only a week away!
Are you ready?
Our Easter bunnies still have a few tasks to do before we are set…
Or perhaps more than a few!
Right, Laurie????

We both love hosting a family gathering
and Easter is one of our favorite times to do so!
Today, we’re sharing a fun way to get your Littles involved
while also offering a seasonal treat for your guests!

BUNNY BAIT… A spring-themed snack that’s sweet and salty!
It’s the perfect treat to lure any Easter Bunny to your home
but it’s equally delicious to offer to guests before or after your holiday meal!
Today, Laura is sharing our quick and easy recipe for Bunny Bait
but she’s adding a GRAND spin to things, as well!
She’s got a simple project your Littles can make…
One that can then be used to serve our snack mix to guests
in a fun and creative way!
Then, Laurie will share an idea for REAL Bunny Bait,
one that can be prepared with Littles
as they got ready for their yearly visit from the Easter Bunny!

Bunny Bait has become an Easter staple in our home.
It’s a treat we enjoy - in one version or another - all spring long!

Ingredients (I often double the recipe)
2 cups Cheerios
4 cups Chex cereal (Wheat, Corn or Wheat OR a combo!)
1 cup Pretzel Sticks
1 16-oz package white baking chips
1 package chocolate mini-eggs (or 1-2 cups pastel M & M’s)

Directions
1. In a large bowl combine the Cheerios, Chex cereal and pretzels.

2. Melt the white baking chips in the microwave. We heat the chips for 30-45 seconds, stir the mixture and then repeat in 30 second intervals until the mixture is smooth when stirred.
3. Drizzle the melted mixture over the cereal mix and fold with a large spoon until all of the cereal pieces are covered with it.

4. Spread the mixture on a large sheet pan covered with parchment, wax paper or a silicone mat.. Let the mixture cool completely.

Break the hardened mixture into bite size pieces. Add the chocolate eggs or M & M’s.

Stir to combine all the ingredients..
Store Bunny Bait in an airtight container.

Materials Needed (to make 2 Bunny Cups)
2 plastic glasses (you could use white paper cups, too)
4 plastic eyes (we used the self adhesive kind)
2 pink pom poms
2 cotton balls
white construction paper
pink construction paper (or patterned scrapbook paper)
black construction paper
scissors
glue, glue stick or glue gun
NOTE: You can use construction paper in place of the plastic eyes, pom poms and/or cotton balls.

Directions
1. Glue or stick two googly eyes onto each plastic cup, as shown. (You can also draw and cut out eyes from paper.) Cut 6 thin strips from the black paper for each bunny’s whiskers.

2. Glue 6 whiskers onto each plastic cup, three on each side, as shown below.

Glue the pink pom pom (or pink paper) nose over the whiskers, as shown. Let the whiskers and nose dry.

NOTE: At this point, we gave our bunny’s whiskers a haircut. We also cut a “w” out of black paper and glued it underneath the pom pom nose. These steps are completely optional.

3. For each bunny, cut two large ear shapes from white paper and two smaller pink ones that will fit inside the white ones. Glue the pink ears inside the white ones.

4. Glue two ears onto the top of each cup. For the bunny’s tail, glue a cotton ball to the lower back side of each cup. Let the “ears” and “tails” dry.

Can you see the bunny’s tail hiding behind its eyes above?
5. Fill your Bunny Cups with Bunny Bait or any other treat you’d like! HAPPY EASTER!

Want to entice the Easter Bunny to your house on Easter Eve?
Make the REAL Bunny Bait with your Littles!

It’s easy because you can mix together a variety of ingredients you probably have on hand! What do bunnies love? Vegetables!! Let your Littles participate by chopping up carrots and other vegetables with a plastic knife .

Add all of the chopped veggies to a bowl and have your Littles sprinkle their Bunny Bait on your lawn.

A FEW THINGS TO KNOW!
DON’T BE SURPRISED… Your Bunny Bait will probably be eaten up quickly by animals such as squirrels, rabbits, birds, or even raccoons and deer roaming in your area.
ANOTHER OPTION… If you DO NOT want to encourage wildlife to eat in your yard OR you live in an area without wildlife, put your Bunny Bait in a bowl by the front door and assure your Littles that the Easter Bunny can smell this yummy treat! DON’T FORGET to remove most of the bait before morning!

ARE YOU A GRAND LIKE US? If so, you probably aren’t with your Littles on Easter Eve or early on Easter morning. If this is the case, you have options, too! If you live near your Littles, bundle up a bag of Bunny Bait veggies with a note for your Littles and drop this package off at their home the day beforehand. If you are a distant Grand, share a FaceTime call and introduce real Bunny Bait to your Littles. Perhaps your Littles’ parents can then make Bunny Bait with them, to follow up your call! If so, be sure to get photos so you can talk about your Easter adventures during a future call!
