Happy Monday, Everyone!
Did you happen to see Laurie’s recent post on our OGL Instagram site?
You can watch the full reel here!
Phew! Never a dull moment!
Those Littles sure know how to keep us busy!
Can anyone relate?
Laura certainly can!
She traveled to spend last week with her Littles!
Such a delightful week with these two cuties…
helping, playing, laughing, dancing, reading, and lots of snuggling, too!
Laura was equally grateful for the quick getaway to the lake that followed!
A bit of peace and quiet, a good summer read and a beautiful view…
So good for the soul!
And now, on to today’s post!
We’ve got a new SUMMER FAVE for you all!
Last Thursday, Laurie shared the details of her family’s recent Olympics Party
and today we are each sharing a few food faves
to make your Olympic experience even more special!
The Summer Olympics begin later this week
and we can’t wait!
Check out our yummy options for celebrating…
Any of our Olympic Treats & Sweets will be the perfect addition
to your watch party or gathering!
And your Littles will love them, too!
As part of her recent family Olympics Party
Laurie made a few special snacks!
She’s here to share them with us all today!
Oreo Medals!
These were an extra fun snack and the perfect addition to our party!
Ingredients݀
• lemon or Golden Oreo cookies
• Pull ‘n Peel Twizzlers
• white frosting
Directions
1. Carefully twist each cookie and pull one side off - try to keep as much of the filling on one side of the cookie when twisting them apart.
2. Peel 2 strings of licorice off and tie them together.
3. Add additional frosting to the filling in each cookie. (This will act as glue.)
4. Press the licorice ends into the frosting and add the other side of the cookie, as well. You now have your edible Gold Ribbons!
Bursting Bubble Lemonades!
This fun beverage uses Boba pearls to make a sweet drink!
(You can suck the pearls up in the wider straw and when you bite them, they explode with flavor!)
Ingredients݀
• lemonade
• jumbo straws (often known as Smoothie straws OR Boba Straws
Directions
1. Fill the bottom of a plastic glass with Boba Pearls.
2. Add ice. Fill with lemonade and add a smoothie (larger) straw to serve!
A GRAND TIP... for the grown ups in the crowd!
Turn this refreshing beverage into an adult one
by simply adding a splash of vodka to the glass!
U.S.A. Dessert!
A simple addition to a classic fave
makes for the perfect dessert!
Put a brownie and some ice cream on a plate
and top with an American flag!
NOTE: You can buy USA Flag toothpicks OR you can make your own by printing off a copy of miniature USA flags, cutting them out and then taping them to toothpicks yourself!
Laura also has some delicious suggestions
to make any Olympic gathering extra memorable!
Olympic Torch Ice Cream Cones!
Little L had such fun helping me make her own ice cream cone….
and she didn’t mind eating it, either!
I kept hearing her say, “Mmmmm…. Yummy!”
Ingredients݀
• red, orange and yellow fruit, cut into slices
NOTE: We used nectarines, pineapple & strawberries
• orange sherbet
• ice cream cones (we used waffle sugar cones)
Directions
1. If you haven’t done so already, slice your fruit into pieces.
NOTE: We cut our fruit to look like flames for our torch. Also, Little L could then pull the slices off and then use the sherbet as a dip for each! YUM!
2. Fill each ice cream cone with orange sherbet.
3. Add the fruit slices to the top of your ice cream cone. Place each to look like flames rising from the torch!
Time to eat!
In case you are wondering... Little L ate the fruit and about eight bites of ice cream!
Bacco (that's me) finished it off for her!
ENJOY!
Olympic Watch Snack Cups!
We’ll be at the lake with all the Littles
when the Olympics are airing in early August!
I thought it would be fun to put some food options together
so that everyone could create their own snack cups
while watching the Olympics together!
AN ADDED BONUS…
You’ll also find that these are the perfect size for your Littles!
Older viewers may want a different container to house their treats!
Ingredients݀
• cake style ice cream cones (the bigger the better!)
• popcorn OR puffcorn
• Crunchy Cheetos
• M & M’s (optional)
BEWARE… A GRAND TIP!
DO NOT include popcorn as an option for children under four!
We used puffcorn as an alternative!
According to the American Academy of Pediatrics,
popcorn can be a choking hazard for children under four!
Better to be safe than sorry!
Directions
1. Set out the cake style ice cream cones. These will be your snack cups!
2. Set out bowls of popcorn/puffcorn and cheetos. Then let everyone grab an ice cream cone to fill! We put popcorn/puffcorn in the bottom of the cup and then added Cheetos at the top. They looked like the flames coming from the Olympic torch!
3. You can also set out a bowl of M & M’s and everyone can sprinkle a few over the mixture!
Did you know that regular/peanut M & M’s
are the same colors as those found
on the rings of the Olympic flag?
Read on for a few more effortless eats!
Simple Olympic Treats & Sweets!
Check out these super simple ideas!
Each would be a wonderful addition to your Olympic table!
And, your Littles will have fun helping you prep it all!
Bugle Torches!
I first made these years ago as a treat for my Summer School class. They are easier than you think and Little L and I had fun making them together! Of course, Little L especially liked sampling the colored sugars!
You’ll need a bag of Bugles corn snacks, vanilla candy coating and yellow and red colored sugar.
Line a pan with parchment paper. Put each of the colored sugars into separate small bowls. Melt the vanilla candy coating in the microwave and stir until smooth.
Dip the open end of a Bugle into the melted mixture, about 1/4 to 1/2 inch. Immediately put the melted end of the Bugle into the yellow sugar. Gently shake off any excess. Then dip the same end into the red sugar. Again, shake off excess. Put the coated/sugared Bugle on the parchment lined pan.
Repeat this process with more Bugles until you’ve made as many as you’d like. Let the candied Bugles set on the pan. When ready, put your Bugle torches on a platter OR store in an airtight container until needed!
Olympic Barbells!
Talk about simple! You only need two ingredients and once you show your Little how to make them, you’ll be all set! No explanation is even needed!
Olympic Rice Krispie Bars!
It doesn’t get much easier than this! Make rice krispie bars, using your own recipe. You can also buy prepackaged ones to use instead.
In addition to the rice krispie bars, you’ll only need some white frosting and regular or mini
M & M’s - a blue, dark brown, red, yellow and green one for each bar.
Add five small dollops of frosting to the top of each rice krispie bar, as shown. Press your M & M’s onto the dollops, creating the Olympic logo!
Red, White & Blue Brownie Bites!
We bought brownie bites from Costco and added a dollop of white frosting (using the star tip) to the center of each. Then we sprinkled red, white and blue jimmies on top! Simple and festive and… delicious! GO U.S.A.!!!
Laurie’s Oreo Medals!
Finally, we used Laurie’s idea to create gold medals! The only difference was that we used Fruit Roll-Ups in place of the Twizzlers (no need to tie the ends together)!
Do you know the significance of the
Olympic flag with its logo and colors?
The message of the Olympics is one we all can embrace and celebrate
and, as GRANDS, one we are thrilled to share with our families
and especially our Littles!
Will you be watching the Olympics when they begin this Friday?
You know where we will be!

Thank You so much for sharing with Sweet Tea & Friend's August link-up. I'm so happy to see you.
I love the Olympic-themed treats! The Oreo medals are especially inventive and easy-to-make. Enjoy those little grandchildren! Ours are growing up so fast; the youngest is almost 15. It's a whole different kind of fun. I found your blog on the #WBOYC link-up. It's nice to "meet" you!

Love that you're getting behind the Olympics like this. For us on the other side of the world (sadly) most of the action will be taking place when we're asleep. Thanks for linking up with us. Jo from And Anyways.
